Seaside Diner launches with JacoPOS

New Jacó restaurant Seaside Diner begins business relationship with GeckoTech with the purchase of a two terminal touchscreen JacoPOS system.
Canadian owned Seaside Diner opened its doors mid-December and soon after began working with GeckoTech to have the first terminal fully operational by start of business on New Year’s Eve. With a GeckoTech techie on hand for the first couple of hours to help iron out any teething problems, the night ran extremely smoothly with very few problems.
Seaside’s Office Manager Annalie Kerwin said “After a short training session with GeckoTech, I was able to input all of our menu information into the POS in just a few hours, and the helpful staff at GeckoTech were always just a phone call away to help with any issues I faced. The user friendly interface of JacoPOS also meant the front of house staff here at the restaurant were able to go ahead and use the system with minimal training”.

Casa Ponte upgrades Video Surveillance & Energy Saving Systems

The owner of Casa Ponte, Paul Cooper, has upgraded his two camera video surveillance system to GeckoTech’s state of the art Video Surveillance solution, predicated on Milestone. Milestone is accepted as being “best of breed” for security video systems.  GeckoTech is one of the few authorized and trained integrators able to deploy and support Milestone in Central America.  IP based, the software allows Paul to monitor the grounds from anywhere in the world, and furthermore, the guard can view activity on perimeter cameras from his guard-house on-site.

At the same time, Paul upgraded his energy management system from GeckoTech’s GeckoEye to GeckoTech’s new and improved GeckoEyeII.  GeckoTech’s original Energy Saving system, GeckoEye, was installed 2 years ago.  GeckoEye monitered activity in the property and automatically switched off the AC when doors or windows were left open but with no reporting or visibility of savings.  Now, with GeckoEye II, Paul can enjoy full reporting (transparency) of the savings he realizes.

GeckoEye II allows full automation of thermostats, allowing the owner not only to ensure AC is switched off when potential waste/abuse is sensed, but also enables full control and monitoring of AC (and lighting) via the web from anywhere in the world.
During the migration to GeckoEyeII, Paul also upgraded all of his older inefficient Air Handler Fujitsu HI-SEER splits. With the newer HI-SEER Air Handlers and GeckoEyeII, Paul expects to reduce his electric bill by up to 50%. Way to go Paul!!!

Breeze Bar & Restaurant signs up with GeckoTech

Breezze, a new restaurant located in Jacó’s north end (formerly occupied by Congas), has contracted with GeckoTech for a 3 terminal JacóPOS system.
JacóPOS is Costa Rica’s only POS system that allows servers to easily work with both dollars and colones.  Its user-friendly web interface means servers can get to work with minimal training and management can easily track revenue and costs.

GeckoBee buzzes into Monaco

Dan Woodley, unit owner at the Monaco condos, has installed GeckoTech’s GeckoBee intelligent thermostat.

With a sexy touchscreen interface that can also be controlled online or via an iPhone app, GeckoBee gives high end climate control to ensure the coolest cats stay chilled in Jaco.

Dan says, “The new GeckoBee allows me to monitor the unit’s temperature and humidity, as well as the “ghost guests”. It has reduced my ICE bill by several hundred dollars per month.”

Hotel 9 enters into long term support contract.

After having successfully implemented GeckoTech’s Network Distribution and Internet Hotspot solution some time ago, south Jacó’s Hotel 9 has now signed a long term contract with GeckoTech to provide support for these services. Geckotech will be on hand to provide first-hand support in the event of any issues. Using an online helpdesk, staff can log an issue and GeckoTech will respond within a maximum response time of 4 hours.

GeckoBee installed at Los Altos Penthouse

A Los Altos (Manuel Antonio) Penthouse owner has recently contracted with GeckoTech for the installation of three GeckoBee intelligent thermostats.  GeckoBee allows the unit owner to program and control his AC remotely, from anywhere in the world, using an online web interface.

The unit owner’s particular point of interest was being able to use the included iPhone app to manage his AC during his drive from SJO to Manuel Antonio.  This way he could arrive to a “cool penthouse” (no pun intended) without wasting energy.  In the first month of operation, the unit owner realized a savings of almost 50% in his total electric bill.

Tres Regalos contracts with GeckoTech for video and voice managed services

Tres Regalos contracts with GeckoTech for video and voice managed services: GeckoTech has started the design and deployment of vPBX-Manage and vDVR-Manage for Tres Regalos.  Tres Regalos is one of Jaco’s premiere properties.  Tres Regalos consists of 30+ spectacular units.  Tres Regalos recognised the need for blended voice services for each room, as well as the necessity for video surveillance property wide.  GeckoTech’s delivery and support team expect to have Tres Regalos fully operational by early September.

Oxygino deploys Video Camera for remote management

Oxygino deploys Video Camera for remote management: GeckoTech has successfully completed the deployment of Bohio Grill’s 6th camera as part of GT’s DVR-Manage service.  Now, the owner’s of Bohio Grill, are able to monitor activity in 3 of their locations.  Bohio Grill itself (Jaco), Bubbas (Jaco), and Oxygino (SJO).  The Bohio Grill owners now have a single log-in from which they can view all 6 cameras simultaneously from the convenience of their home..  Or anywhere for that matter.  Hats off to Nelson’s deployment team for making this solution a reality.  GeckoTech is hopeful to have 2 more cameras deployed to two new locations (part of the Bohio Grill Group) within the next 30 days.

Video On Demand services pass first round of testing

Video On Demand services pass first round of testing: GeckoTech has compeleted its first round of testing on its “entry level” video on demand services.  The VoD solution will be offered as a managed service, and will be a total solution supported through GT’s Convenience Practice area.  The solution allows for the deployment of low cost VoD players that will be installed in hotel rooms and condomimiums.  These players will, in turn, be able to access video content maintained on servers to be colocated on the physical properties.  This solution will allow the HOA or Developer to create new revenue streams using VoD services.  Pricing is expected to be standardised over the next 60 days.

Smart Thermostat Integration

Smart Thermostat Integration: GeckoTech will launch its “intelligent” thermostat technology this month.  This technology is expected to offer substantial savings in energy consumption by using intelligent, web controlled AC thermostat systems.  Property managers are VERY interested in this solution as it will allow them to save significantly on utility expense.  No longer will the PM be required to dispatch staff to the property to “turn off” the AC when a guest checks out.  In today’s economy, this solution will be a “win win” for both PM and unit owners alike.
