The unit owners intent is to provide free US calling services for his rental guests, while at the same time ensuring the devices are monitored to allow for the reporting of theft. The system is expected to save the renters as much as 500$ annually in long distance calling services, while at the same time allow the unit owner to differentiate his property from others by offering this service at “no charge”

Seaside spins back up..

Seaside (originally known as “Seaside Diner” and “The Fish Shack”) will be reopening its doors this coming fall (high season). The management team has been extended to include not only the original owner/operator Marcel Gauthier, but also restaurant consultant Stephen Carlson. The revamped, rebranded restaurant will leverage many of GeckoTech’s key technologies such as GeckoPOS, GeckoWatch, GeckoPower, and GeckoGreen (energy management). GeckoTech is confident that by exploiting its technologies, Seaside will be serious contender as a “go to place” in Jaco.

Record earthquake demonstrates GeckoTech “staying power”

GeckoTech is responsible for one of Costa Rica’s most spectacular Home Entertainment installations. The Vista La Palmas penthouse has in excess of 48 speakers (4 of which drop out of the ceiling and pivot), 8 TVs (ranging from 42 to 60 inches), 6000W of online power backup, 18 zones of audio, 4 movie on demand players. The list could go on and on. During the 2012 September 5th earthquake, the VLP penthouse, situated 17 floors above sea-level experienced more side to side movement than any other area of the pacific coast. Because GeckoTech engineers believe in sturdy/robust mounting techniques not a single TV was dislodged from the wall nor damaged. Pretty impressive given the magnitude of the quake. We wish other units (lower) in VLP had been as fortunate. “Fortune” starts with solid engineering work from GeckoTech.

Wishbone steps into 21st century with GeckoTech

Wishbone, Jaco’s oldest family owned/operated restaurant, has long been a staple for the Jaco surf community. Both locals and tourists. Wishbone is known as the restaurant with consistent food and drink. Wishbone, up until October of this year has been operating by hand. Hand receipts, hand time tracking, hand chits… In order to stay competitive Wishbone saw the need to leverage technologies such as Point of Sale, and Video Surveillance. Which of course drives additional requirements such as Power Backup. Step in GeckoTech: With managed services such GeckoPOS, GeckoWatch, and GeckoPower, Wishbone is able to realize its dream of automating without the “breaking the bank”. Welcome aboard Wishbone!!

GeckoWatch Camera for more units at VistaMar

GeckoWatch continues to gain significant momentum for unit owners at various multi-tenant dwellings throughout Jaco. And Vista Mar is no exception.
GeckoTech has recently added its third GeckoWatch subscriber from this beautiful property. The property owner is now able to use his iPhone/Android mobile device to view real-time and 30 day historical video of the rental property’s entrance.. GeckoWatch uses state-of-the-art IP camera and video recording technology. GeckoWatch is the ultimate in Video Surveillance for a property that would not otherwise find video surveillance cost-prohibitive.

Poseidon Hotel deploys GeckoMusic

In an effort to streamline operational procedures, as well minimize component support costs, Poseidon Hotel, (one of Jaco’s more established properties) has contracted with GeckoTech for the deployment of a single source, 4 zone audio system. Using ABUS technology (tried and tested) the hotel will leverage the Front Desk PC as an audio player and feed a primary ABUS hub. The ABUS hub will the feed four designated zones to allow for independent audio/volume control in each zone. The identified zones are the Restaurant, Lobby, and Pool area. The fourth zone will be a roving portable zone providing music in various locations as venue demands change.
