|Welcome back Villa Antigua! A luxury Mediterranean villa strategically located in the charming town of south beach Jaco, is using again GeckoTech’s top-notch surveillance system to protect their guests…Thanks for trusting us to protect what you must value..your guests safety.|
Los Amigos, like all popular restaurants, is a bastion for thieves “looking for a an easy target.” The original patio area was surveilled by a single fixed view camera that was not capable of covering the dining area as well as detailed imagery of entrance. So owner Chris Mandel asked GeckoTech to add yet another camera to his Milestone System. The new camera being a PTZ with low lumens capability and one that could be controlled by the Milestone operator to change pan, tilt or zoom… After collected detailed user requirements (what did owner Chris Mandel hope to achieve with this new camera/view) GeckoTech selected a high end Toshiba PTZ with a 180′ Panning FoV. Now the property has imagery capable of providing irrefutable ID of all people entering the property through the main gate. Thus continuing to prove that Los Amigos is one of the safest (least # of incidence) to dine out.
Technology changes at an alarming rate, and to be competitive in the hospitality industry you must stay on the bleeding edge. Such is the case with Los Amigos’ video distribution system. During the original deployment of an “easily controlled” video distribution in the Los Amigos Sports Bar, GeckoTech used CATV cabling infrastructure and Composite video injectors to send the multitude of “on demand content servers” to any number of the sports bar’s TVs. This solution has served Los Amigos well for the past 6 years….. But all good things must come to an end. Or must they? Can’t we simply make a good thing better? In this case yes. Los Amigos upped its Cable Tica subscription to use High Definition Set Top boxes. This allows a better experience for the customer on “fight night”. However the HD Set Top boxes posed an integration issue as compared to the legacy video distribution technology. No worries. GeckoTech to the rescue. GeckoTech engineered a hybrid solution that allowed limited distribution of high def content without disrupting the distribution of legacy content/services.
Savings and Security. What more could one ask for. Especially when the former pays for the latter. with a little change to spare. Such is the case for 3 rental units at Vista Mar that recently became subscribers to GeckoTech’s services: GeckoEye and GeckoWatch. Vista Mar. situated in Jaco, is one of Jaco’s first developments. The owners were experiencing brisk occupancy, but were having their rental income gobbled up by ICE. So they turned to GeckoTech to help lower their AC operational costs relative to ICE power. GeckoTech answered their “cry for help” by installing GeckoEye. The gEye system not only lowered the owner’s AC operational costs by 30% but also allowed them remote managing and monitoring of doors/windows/thermostats. The subsequent savings afforded them the option to install gPhoto at the front door to track all pedestrian traffic in and out of his rental unit. gPhoto takes successive photos on one second intervals and sends them to a web service where the subscriber can review up to 30 days of photos. Gone are the days of wondering if their units are rented.. All three unit owners are now in complete control of their properties even though they might be 1000s of miles away.
Chris Mandel, owner of Los Amigos, is in the process of upgrading his Milestone Video Surveillance sytem (branded GeckoWatch) to allow him to view his property’s cameras real-time “on the go”. To facilitate this upgrade, Chris purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note with both Wifi and 3G services. Now, from almost anywhere in the world, Chris can “keep tabs” on his business. GeckoWatch: Piece of mind with a Costa Rican business.
Seaside (originally known as “Seaside Diner” and “The Fish Shack”) will be reopening its doors this coming fall (high season). The management team has been extended to include not only the original owner/operator Marcel Gauthier, but also restaurant consultant Stephen Carlson. The revamped, rebranded restaurant will leverage many of GeckoTech’s key technologies such as GeckoPOS, GeckoWatch, GeckoPower, and GeckoGreen (energy management). GeckoTech is confident that by exploiting its technologies, Seaside will be serious contender as a “go to place” in Jaco.
Cielo Azul, rental house situated in central Jaco, with 6 bedrooms, has recently upgraded its GeckoWatch video recording system to support Mobile client viewing. The owner can now view all of his GeckoWatch cameras, real-time, or historical from anywhere in the world using his iPhone or Android mobile device.
GeckoWatch continues to gain significant momentum for unit owners at various multi-tenant dwellings throughout Jaco. And Vista Mar is no exception.
GeckoTech has recently added its third GeckoWatch subscriber from this beautiful property. The property owner is now able to use his iPhone/Android mobile device to view real-time and 30 day historical video of the rental property’s entrance.. GeckoWatch uses state-of-the-art IP camera and video recording technology. GeckoWatch is the ultimate in Video Surveillance for a property that would not otherwise find video surveillance cost-prohibitive.
Monaco Condominiums, situated in central Jaco, is evaluating GeckoTech’s GeckoWatch (managed service for Video Surveillance). Starting with one hi res IP Camera monitoring the gate, they will be expanding the service to include video coverage of each of the tower’s pedestrian access. It is expected the pilot will grow to 12+ cameras over the next 8 months providing tighter security for guests and unit owners. The cameras are visible (both historically and realtime) from the main office viewing terminal, as well as designated staff with mobile device access.
In order to provide better control for Acqua’ Spa management/ownership, the Spa has signed up for GeckoTech’s GeckoWatch managed service. GeckoWatch is service that allows installation of 1 or more IP video camera(s) that records to a centrally located recording server. The beauty of GeckoWatch is the economy of scales that are afforded to each subscriber that might only want/need a single camera. This is because multiple subscribers share the same infrastructure thus lowering setup costs significantly. Cost for the GeckoWatch service is $200 setup and $20/mo for ongoing managed service and support. With GeckoWatch the cameras can be viewed real-time and historically from an iPad, iPhone, Android or PC.
