GeckoWatch camera added to Vista Mar rental unit

An existing GeckoEye subscriber has decided to extend his energy management system to include video surveillance at the front door of his unit.   The unit owner can now have a running log of snapshot photos (up to 30 days) to monitor all traffic in and out of his unit.   The unit owner now has visibility of not only WHEN his AC is turned on/off, but WHO turned it on/off.   Talk about having your cake and eating it too!

Casa Ponte deploys GeckoCheck to fine tune Energy Savings

GeckoCheck (gCheck), is GeckoTech’s Energy Measuring/recording system.  GeckoCheck basically monitors all the circuits in a rental property’s circuit breaker box and records all power consumption to the web.   This allows the property owner or manager to log in and see historical and realtime power consumption patterns.  gCheck is often a “hard sell” because it does not have a quantifiable ROI at time of install.  However, in every installation of gCheck there was an immediate recognised ROI within 24-72 hours of its installation.   This is because gCheck will immediately identify “heavy consumers” and over time will identify trends.   Such was the case at Casa Ponte, where GeckoTech had already (2 years ago) installed GeckoEye (energy conservation).   Within 72 hours, the property owner was able to quickly isolate one of his primary air handlers as being “money hemorrhage point”.  It turns out that for years the return duct had been improperly sized and thus the AC was running twice as hard as any other AC.   In a matter of days the AC’s installation flaw was fixed.   gCheck’s ROI will be less than 4 months!!  gCheck is also monitoring the 11 other ACs, 2 stoves, 3 water heaters, 1 dryer, assorted room’s outlets, etc…  Go GeckoCheck

GeckoEye GeckoBee Re-up for Acqua beach front unit

For four years an Acqua beachfront unit enjoyed significant savings due to GeckoEye (gEye) and GeckoBee (gBee) tehcnologies..    When the unit changed hands a year ago, the new owner was not aware of that his new unit had these energy savings technologies installed, and the systems were disabled.   After comparing energy operational costs with gEye against energy operational costs without gEye, the new unit owner was able to “see the light”.   Sometimes experience is the best lesson.   We are glad to have this property back in our folds, and reducing Jaco’s carbon footprint..  Oh yeah, let us not forget the savings!!

Mar Arena leverages GeckoNet to increase renter internet experience

Mar Arena, an established multi-tenant 2 story property, situated on Jaco’s south beach, has decided to “take control” of its internet delivery service throughout its property.   This March, GeckoTech deployed GeckoNET (gNET) as a two radio managed wireless internet delivery service throughout the property.   The new service ensure managed (equally balanced and throttled) wireless connection to each user connected to any of the commercial grade wireless internet radios.   Each user is issued a unique userID and Password upon checkin that is valid only during their stay.   No longer do they need to worry about the neighbors leeching from their wireless internet service and degrading the internet experience for the paying renters/guests. Mar Arena’s permanent party, as well as transient rentals have embraced the new technology and find the security a crucial component in any wireless service.    GeckoTech looks forward to extending the service to include new/additional radios and other “on demand” services.

Caliche’s Wishbone grows into 2nd POS terminal

Caliche’s Wishbone deployed GeckoPOS (gPOS) in middle 2012.   After years of successful operation without a POS why would the owned decide to introduce technology into a seemingly flawless operation?   Because he/she needed control.   They needed to know what they were selling, who was selling it, patterns for selling, etc..  All necessary Business Intelligence reports to help them grow their business and sales.   Well, one good turn deserves another.   After operating for 6 months with a single terminal, they saw the value of adding a second terminal more centrally located in the restaurant to allow quicker/easier access for waitstaff.  In the end, product is delivered sooner to the table, thus enhancing the overall experience of the customer.   As with all GeckoTech solutions, the addition of this 2nd terminal was Win-Win!

School of the World takes control of Student’s internet experience

School of the World is Jaco’s oldest, and most reputable (if not only) vacation school that provides room, along with classes in surfing, spanish, art, and photography..  (and rumor has it soon to offer “go pro” video classes).   So when it comes to ensuring the “internet experience” was optimal for students, staff and operations, the school’s management team looked to GeckoTech for guidance/support.   Enter GeckoNET (gNET).   gNET is GeckoTech’s managed service that allows for seamless distribution of wireless services throughout the property.   These wireless services are then afforded routes out onto the world wide web using one or more internet connections with the likes of ICE or CableTica or REICO.   gNET ensures that the student and staff always has an optimal route, while at the same time ensuring that no unauthorized leechers are able to degrade the student or staff experience.   The most compelling reason for School of the World’s decision to use GeckoTech is its established track record relative to support.   Because it is a managed service, School of the World does not need worry about being “left behind” as technology moves forward.   After all “a happy student, is a returning student.”

GeckoWatch extends itself at School of the World

School of the World is one of GeckoTech’s first GeckoWatch (gWatch) subscribers.   For the past 3 years School of the World has enjoyed a head-ache free video surveillance syetem.   Headache free, because they simply need to call GeckoTech whenever the system failed, and GeckoTech’s technicians were onsite within 4 hours, repairing the problem. The gWatch managed service has proven so successful for School of the World that in late 2012 they decided to extend their managed service contract to include 4 new cameras.     Also, the upgrade of 4 cameras coupled with their recent GeckoNET deployment, allowed remote access for the management team’s iPhones and iPad devices..   Wowzaaaa!!

Los Amigos opts for mobile viewing of Surveillance

Chris Mandel, owner of Los Amigos, is in the process of upgrading his Milestone Video Surveillance sytem (branded GeckoWatch) to allow him to view his property’s cameras real-time “on the go”.   To facilitate this upgrade, Chris purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note with both Wifi and 3G services.  Now, from almost anywhere in the world, Chris can “keep tabs” on his business.  GeckoWatch: Piece of mind with a Costa Rican business.

Breeze re-brands itself as Papichulos

Local Jaco restaurant, Breeze, has reopened its doors after an 18 month hiatus.   At the same time they are re-branding themselves and upgrading their GeckoPOS system to the latest version thus allowing priced modifiers and proximity credentialing (as well as countless other updates/fixes over the past 18 months).   Good luch Papichulos.

BohioGrill enhances GeckoPOS with Proximity Technology

BohioGrill, a long time user of various GeckoTech technologies, has recently upgraded its GeckoPOS to include proximity card technology to allow better (more secure) credentialing for Waitstaff and employee access.  Previously, employees simply entered a  four digit PIN code that could easily be passed verbally.  Now, with the GeckoAccess add-on, each employee is issued a card, and each card as UNIQUE ID encoded/embedded using  proximity technology.  The card (aka token) is then used to gain access to the GeckoPOS.  This enhancement helps minimize internal fraud.
