Los Amigos opts for mobile viewing of Surveillance

Chris Mandel, owner of Los Amigos, is in the process of upgrading his Milestone Video Surveillance sytem (branded GeckoWatch) to allow him to view his property’s cameras real-time “on the go”.   To facilitate this upgrade, Chris purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note with both Wifi and 3G services.  Now, from almost anywhere in the world, Chris can “keep tabs” on his business.  GeckoWatch: Piece of mind with a Costa Rican business.

Wishbone steps into 21st century with GeckoTech

Wishbone, Jaco’s oldest family owned/operated restaurant, has long been a staple for the Jaco surf community. Both locals and tourists. Wishbone is known as the restaurant with consistent food and drink. Wishbone, up until October of this year has been operating by hand. Hand receipts, hand time tracking, hand chits… In order to stay competitive Wishbone saw the need to leverage technologies such as Point of Sale, and Video Surveillance. Which of course drives additional requirements such as Power Backup. Step in GeckoTech: With managed services such GeckoPOS, GeckoWatch, and GeckoPower, Wishbone is able to realize its dream of automating without the “breaking the bank”. Welcome aboard Wishbone!!

GeckoWatch Camera for more units at VistaMar

GeckoWatch continues to gain significant momentum for unit owners at various multi-tenant dwellings throughout Jaco. And Vista Mar is no exception.
GeckoTech has recently added its third GeckoWatch subscriber from this beautiful property. The property owner is now able to use his iPhone/Android mobile device to view real-time and 30 day historical video of the rental property’s entrance.. GeckoWatch uses state-of-the-art IP camera and video recording technology. GeckoWatch is the ultimate in Video Surveillance for a property that would not otherwise find video surveillance cost-prohibitive.

Monaco initiates Video Surveillance pilot

Monaco Condominiums, situated in central Jaco, is evaluating GeckoTech’s GeckoWatch (managed service for Video Surveillance). Starting with one hi res IP Camera monitoring the gate, they will be expanding the service to include video coverage of each of the tower’s pedestrian access. It is expected the pilot will grow to 12+ cameras over the next 8 months providing tighter security for guests and unit owners. The cameras are visible (both historically and realtime) from the main office viewing terminal, as well as designated staff with mobile device access.

Wishbone begins deployment of Video Surveillance

Wishbone, one of jaco’s oldest and most reputable restaurants, is moving into the 21st century by subscribing to GeckoTech’s GeckoWatch video surveillance managed service. The initial system will consist of 4 cameras scattered throughout the property to allow management/owners to view activity in and around the property. GeckoTech will use Milestone’s award winning xProtect to provide historical and real-time viewing to Wishbone’s staff via their mobile devices. Both Android and iPhone. Next step, in terms of automation for Wishbone will be the deployment of GeckoPOS..

Acqua deploys GeckoWatch camera into SPA

In order to provide better control for Acqua’ Spa management/ownership, the Spa has signed up for GeckoTech’s GeckoWatch managed service. GeckoWatch is service that allows installation of 1 or more IP video camera(s) that records to a centrally located recording server. The beauty of GeckoWatch is the economy of scales that are afforded to each subscriber that might only want/need a single camera. This is because multiple subscribers share the same infrastructure thus lowering setup costs significantly. Cost for the GeckoWatch service is $200 setup and $20/mo for ongoing managed service and support. With GeckoWatch the cameras can be viewed real-time and historically from an iPad, iPhone, Android or PC.

Jaco Muni gives go ahead on City Wide Video Surveillance Pilot

The Jaco Municipality has given GeckoTech the “go ahead” to deploy the first four GeckoWatch cameras.   This project has been in the works for over 3 years.  The pilot project leverages the networking and video surveillance expertise of GeckoTech.   The first four cameras will be online and operational by September 1, 2012.

The premise behind GeckoWatch is to allow small businesses to subsidize the installation of public video cameras that will then be monitored by Jaco’s Municipal police.   The model allows the city to install a very expensive system at a fraction of the price.

GeckoTech is working with local developer, Brad Sanson and the Vista Las Palmas group to secure a central hub for the system’s wireless backbone.  The wireless network will allow GeckoTech to distribute cameras across the city, giving the Municipal police “eyes everywhere.”

GeckoTech is not able to disclose the location of these first four cameras, but rest assured that the camera location will add security to Jaco’s public areas from the moment they are put into operation.

GeckoTech introduces mobile viewing services for Video Surveillance

GeckoTech is proud to announce availability of a mobile viewer for Video Surveillance. This add on service allows any GeckoTech client to view their video security cameras from iPhone, iPad and Android mobile devices. The ability for property managers, property owners and developers to view their assets remotely using their private mobile devices is a huge boon to asset management and security. Vista Las Palmas has recently signed up for the service and designated support staff now have access to any video camera 7×24 using their personal communication devices. They are able to view real time (and historically) video imagery while “on the go”. Wow!!

Vista Las Palmas offers GeckoWatch managed service to unit owners..

Vista Las Palmas (VLP) has begun offering GeckoTech’s “GeckoWatch” managed service to it’s unit owners. With GeckoWatch, VLP can offer individual Video Surveillance cameras to monitor the entry ways of any/all private residences within the VLP tower. VLP unit owners, wishing to subscribe to the service will be charged a modest installation/setup fee and then monthly fee for the GeckoWatch service. GeckoTech will provision a state of the art IP camera outside the subscriber’s “main entry door”. The camera will record motion/activity 7×24 and retain history for 30 days. Subscribers can login using standard web technologies and view the camera(s) recorded history from anywhere in the world. The service now makes it “affordable” to monitor staff and traffic through the private residences.

The video recording server is a redundant DELL commercial rack server. This server hosts the award winning Milestone xProtect video recording software. The server will leverage the key components of the VLP infrastructure to include high speed data services and power generation/backup services.
